Help Autumn Zundel On Her Medical Journey

Dear Friends,
As many of you may know the beautiful Autumn Zundel, 13, years old of New Alexandria Pa has developed an enormous medical hurdle. Autumn was taken to Children’s Hospital Of Pittsburgh on January 8th complaining of shoulder pain. That day has forever changed Autumn and her entire family’s lives. She was diagnosed that day with an Anterior Mediastinal Mass between her heart and lungs. She was hospitalized during the initial trip for pain management and treatment for pneumonia.
Autumn was taken in again on January 15 to the Cardiac Care Unit Of Children’s Hospital with what everyone was hoping to be an uncomplicated surgical removal of the Mediastinal Mass for biopsy. During the resection of the mass she incurred hemorrhagic shock( major blood loss) and went into cardiac arrest for a significant period of time on the surgical table. The amazing Doctors at Children’s Hospital worked tirelessly to bring our sweet girl back, but during that fight she had incurred a lengthy time of lack of oxygen to the brain.
Autumn, was taken to the CICU unit where she was intubated and treated for potential seizure activity. She has undergone a long list of testing and procedures during the last few days to try to give everyone an idea of what the future holds for her and her family. We are not sure what the road ahead looks like for Autumn neurologically but we are praying with a lengthy amount of rehabilitation she can hopefully continue life as she once knew it.
Autumn’s life was a very active one prior to this life changing event. She is an active member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Harold Alwine 4-H Group. She is also a member of many livestock associations such as the PCLA, National Jr Swine Association and Extreme Stockmans. She lives for showing her horses, pigs and steers with the support of her parents Dave and Stacey Zundel. It is for sure a family affair, Autumn’s little brothers Aaron and Aiden share the love of showing livestock along side of their big sister as well. Autumn, also has two older siblings, Samantha Ament and Andy Zundel that support their little sister and brothers in all of their endeavors in life.
Autumn has a long lengthy road of recovery ahead of her. And as small business owners the medical bills, inpatient therapy, travel expenses and a long list of many other medical necessities Autumn will incur during this journey will be very taxing on Dave and Stacey financially. I am asking you to please help this amazing family in any way possible during this absolutely terrible time in their lives so they can focus on trying to bring their precious little girl back to the life she once knew.
Please keep sending all the prayers and love their way, they need a miracle to get beautiful Autumn back to the active talented girl she once was. And we know with God, all things are possible.
