Autumn’s Journey

In August of 2023 Autumn noticed she had some swelling in her lymph nodes. She had just received her rabies vaccine in order to pursue her education at York Count Community College. We thought that the swelling may have been caused from this vaccine as it was listed as side effect. After a month of them still being swollen she wanted more answers. Autumn was put on Antibiotics a couple of different times over the next couple of months, as they thought it could have been an infection. She started to have a rash we believed was from the chemicals in the hot tub at her dorm. As time went on the swelling became worse. She received bloodwork several times as her doctors was trying to find answers. Then her doctor ordered x-rays and an ultra sound, still they had no answers.  At this time her doctor decided it was time for her to see a specialist and have a biopsy done. On January 18th 2024 Autumn had a surgical biopsy done removing 3 large lymph nodes from her neck. A week later Autumn and her family go the news no one wants to hear. It was Cancer, specifically Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The end of January and the month of February were spent meeting with oncologists and having many tests done. Anyone that knows Autumn knows how difficult this was for her as she has a severe phobia of needles. On Valentine’s Day she had another surgery to have a port placed, February 22nd Autumn started her first chemo treatment. Autumn decided that throughout her treatment she would like to still attend her classes as much as she is able to. Her mom has been commuting from Bethel to be with her for every appointment. Normally this family wouldn’t be reaching out for help but Autumn grandmother is also taking time off from work to help transport and take care of her 3 younger siblings. If anyone knows this family they know how strong of a mother Holly is, and how she goes up and beyond for all 4 of her children. Anything you can do to help this family is greatly appreciated. Hopefully we can take some weight off their shoulders as anyone in this position is worried about not only the medical bills, but also being able to be there for all of the children.
