Help Avery achieve his Fulbright dreams!

Hello Family and Friends,

I have been awarded a Fulbright scholarship to study in Germany for the upcoming academic year 2022-2023. While this is an incredible opportunity, and I will receive a small stipend, it will not be enough to cover my monthly expenses, including rent, utilities, groceries, and educational fees. The Fulbright Program aims to improve mutual understanding between individuals in the United States and citizens in other nations. The Fulbright Program is the world's largest and most diverse international educational exchange program. Fulbright alumni have become heads of state, judges, ambassadors, CEOs, university presidents, Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, MacArthur Fellows, and leaders in public and private sectors. Currently, I am part of the 5% of Fulbright grantees that identify as African-American. My research expands on previous research and focuses on the effect of socializing on loneliness and social isolation in older adults, which the COVID-19 pandemic has aggravated. After returning from Germany, I intend to attend medical school to become a physician and researcher specializing in supporting older adults. My research in Germany would provide me with a unique viewpoint on how to improve senior care in the United States. Moreover, this opportunity will undoubtedly open many doors for my future and affect my career for years to come.
