Axel, a 20-year-old autistic man with profound intellectual disabilities and severe pain conditions, woke up to find that, according to the NDIS, he no longer has most of his disabilities. That’s right—overnight, his lifelong challenges with intellectual disability, joint hypermobility syndrome, and erythromelalgia (a severe pain condition) had mysteriously vanished from his file.
No reassessment. No review. Just gone.
This is not an accident. This is systemic. It’s happening to people across Australia—quietly, strategically, forcing families into crisis while the NDIA cuts support and pretends the problem has disappeared.
Axel and his family are fighting back.

The NDIA has been slashing Axel’s support coordination, removing key services, and trying to force him into a group home—a system riddled with abuse and neglect.
They undermine families by stripping away support, hoping parents break under pressure so their loved ones are forced into institutional settings where they lose all autonomy.
But Axel’s family isn’t breaking. They love him. They fight for him. And they are not backing down.

Axel’s First Novel: A hilarious, scathing takedown of the NDIA, written in Axel’s signature sharp, dark, satirical AI voice.
