Help Baby Esau Attend Life Changing Therapy

Please help us raise funds for my baby boy Esau to attend a 3 week intensive therapy program at the NAPA Center in Denver, CO. He unexpectedly got a spot from the wait list for Feb 26th-Mar 15th 2024. We are thrilled but the only barrier is the cost. Esau is a happy and playful 15 month old who was diagnosed with severe Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy at birth and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 7 months old. HIE means loss of oxygen to the brain, which results in brain damage. This brain damage caused Esau’s CP. Cerebral means having to do with the brain and palsy means weakness or problems using the muscles. CP affects each individual differently. While there is no cure for his condition, the brain has the ability to form new neural pathways aka connections through neuroplasticity. The brain has the highest potential to change, repair, and adapt during the first three years of life. The younger, the better. Esau is at the prime age. At NAPA center, they use an intensive model of therapy when treating children with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders. NAPA therapists create a customized program for each patient and children often advance to the next developmental skill or higher during the three-week program. For example, a child who is unable to crawl may gain that ability and more. The repetition of doing intense PT, OT, ST, DMI (physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and Dynamic Movement Intervention therapy) as well as other modalities and therapy tools for multiple hours every day strengthens neural pathways. This intensive therapy strengthens and conditions muscles, teaches new motor patterns, increases endurance, improves balance and functional skills such as sitting, communicating, standing, and walking. Esau is the perfect candidate for this therapy but unfortunately they don’t take his insurance. We were quoted at $7,345 which all comes out of pocket, not including travel expenses. This amount has to be paid in full before his scheduled therapy in less than 2 months. I don’t want Esau to miss out on a potential life changing treatment due to the cost. We would be so grateful for any contribution, big or small.
