Help Baby Jayce fight and recovery-Scalded Skin Syndrome

Donation protected

Our sweet and perfect baby Jayce is turning one in just two weeks, but instead of celebrating this milestone, he is currently fighting for his life.

Jayce has contracted a rare and life-threatening staph infection called Scalded Skin Syndrome. This horrific infection has attacked my baby, causing severe burns to cover 50% of his little body.

For two entire days, we begged and pleaded with doctors to understand that we did not place our baby in scalding water. We were sent home and even questioned if I boiled water when I last gave him a bath. The infection was causing Jayce's skin to blister and burn at an unbelievably rapid pace leaving us desperate for answers and help.

Finally, at the fourth hospital as my baby continued to blister up in front of them, we found a compassionate doctor who watched in awe and ran more tests. Jayce tested positive for staphylococcus scalded skin syndrome. Jayce is now on antibiotics, morphine, fentanyl, ketamine, and a scary list to of others to help ease his agony, and has a very long recovery ahead of him. Half of his body is scalded blistered and raw. His once happy beautiful eyes have been swollen shut for days and our little fighter needs all the prayers and support he can get.

We, Jayce’s parents, Jeremy and Katelyn, work long hours to provide for our beautiful family. Jeremy is a well-loved and respected barber, and I, Katelyn, am a bartender. Unfortunately, we do not have any type of PTO or any income while not at work. We are expected to be in the hospital for several weeks while still taking care of our two other beautiful children at home.

Jayce is currently in Pediatric ICU fighting a half-hour drive from our house, and the cost of driving back and forth is adding up quickly. We are reaching out to our family, friends, and community for support during this incredibly challenging time.

Any amount you can spare will make a difference. Every dollar will help us cover medical bills, travel expenses, and the cost of living while we are unable to work. We also deeply appreciate your prayers and positive thoughts for Jayce’s recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and support. Your help means the world to us as we fight to give Jayce the care and love he needs to heal.

With much love and gratitude,

Jeremy DuBose and Katelyn Tarr
