Help Baby Keeon Breathe: A Fight Against Pneumonia
Beschermde donatie
Hi, I’m Kath, and I am fundraising for my son, Baby Keeon.
Baby Keeon, is our precious baby, who has a jolly soul, is in Intensive Care Unit Intubated for more than 1 week now battling against Severe Aspiration Pneumonia, Tuberculosis, and pulmonary hypertension/edema. He is in a very critical condition and is 50-50 battling for his 5months old life.
GoFundMe campaign would be a really big support for Baby Keeon providing us with the financial assistance we need to navigate through these trying times. Keeon, is currently in Madonna and Child Hospital in the Philippines and in Intensive Care Unit.
My healthy son and I traveled back home in the Philippines when he was 6weeks old with his paediatrician’s clearance to travel as I needed support from our family in the philippines. My husband who works full time on a physical labour job and me having on episodes with my severe migraine needed help to take care of my baby back home with my family.
After he become 5months old by New Year, my son was confronted with the harsh reality of his health conditions— Severe Aspiration Pneumonia, Dextrocardia, Allergies, Pulmonary hypertension and Inguinal Hernia. Pneumonia, a severe respiratory infection. Dextrocardia, a congenital heart defect where the heart is positioned on the right side instead of the left, and Inguinal Hernia a bulge that occurs in the groin region, the area between the lower part of the abdomen and the thigh. Inguinal hernias occur because of a weakening of the muscles in the lower abdomen. Pulmonary hypertension is a condition that affects the blood vessels in the lungs. It develops when the blood pressure in your lungs is higher than normal. About 1% of people globally have pulmonary hypertension.
Pulmonary hypertension makes the heart work harder than normal to pump blood into the lungs. This can damage the heart and cause symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest pain, and lightheadedness.
His doctors said everytime they intubate Baby Keeon there’s a resistance in his airway.
As per his doctors, intubation on a perfect airway should be smooth. However, baby Keeon’s airway keeps tightening.
These challenges have just been discovered since his arrival in our local hospital. Due to lack of equipments and a hospital setting for a paediatric ICU in our small town, we needed to travel by ambulance 4hours away in Cagayan De Oro at Madonna and Child Hospital for a better access on medical services for Baby Keeon.
Every breath for Baby Keeon is a struggle, as Pneumonia has weakened his respiratory system. The combination of Pneumonia, Dextrocardia and pulmonary hypertension puts immense pressure on his tiny body and health.
Medical bills, specialized treatments, and ongoing care have taken a toll on our family's financial resources, leaving us in need of a helping hand.
The cost of medical care for Baby Keeon is staggering. From hospital stays to specialized treatments, diagnostic imaging and tests, medications, medical equipments (syringes, gloves, IV fluids) and potential surgeries, the financial burden is overwhelming.
GoFundMe campaign would really help to alleviate some of this burden, allowing my family to focus on what truly matters—the health and well-being of our Baby Keeon.
