Our son Maverick has had a rough start to his life so far. He had a siu appointment and got admitted to the hospital because the doctor felt something was wrong. We got sent to the pediatrics area just to be transferred to the picu at Saint John's hospital. From there maverick got worse day by day. They thought he had the rinovirus. But they wanted to make sure completely of what he had because he just kept getting worse. They had to get his platelets stable enough so they could do a spinal tap.
They eventually got the spinal tap done and checked his spinal fluid to come to find out not only did he have enterovirus but he had multiple infections, in his brain, his spinal fluid, his heart ,his lungs and throughout his boy. His enterovirus got worse it mutated into enterovirus meningitis. It got to the point of the doctors had to restart his heart three times as they waited for the children as hospital in Saint Louis mo medical team got there by the helicopter. Once they got him to the hospital in Saint Louis his heart stopped for the fourth time as we were making our way to him. They had to get our permission over the phone to put maverick on the highest life support they have being the ecmo and ventilator, so they could give his heart and lungs a rest. He's been fighting for his life for over two weeks. His sister hasn't even gotten to meet him because she just got over a upper respiratory infection and she's staying in Springfield with her grandma who also hasn't gotten to meet him yet while we are down here with Maverick. And the only way we've gotten to see her is the help of gas cards from the hospital social worker. If we receive any money it'll be to help maverick and his one year old sister with any they could need. This is maverick our newborn who is in the hospital and the other picture is his older sister Aurora.
