Help Baby Myles medical expenses

Donation protected

Hi everyone! I’m fundraising for my precious new infant grandson Myles Juneau Amador.
His parents are my son Josh Amador & Alicia Clift, who had an expected due date around January 3, 2024!
I am his “ gi-gi” Ginger Turner- we live in Bowling Green, Ky.
December 12, 2023 Josh & Alicia were unexpectedly instructed by her medical provider to go to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tn for more specialized Ob/Gyn treatment (abnormality on ultrasound seen).
Nervous, scared & unprepared they drove there ( about an hour south) to the ER not knowing what the plan would be or what exactly was wrong with the baby.
Alicia was admitted, hooked up to monitor the baby & iv administered until the Fetal specialist team saw them in the morning.
December 13, 2023 after a detailed ultrasound, the team immediately planned to take the baby within the hour.
Myles was born by C-section. Surgery went fine for Alicia.
However our sweet baby boy Myles had multiple complications, some which still were unknown. Josh was able to take a quick picture of him before they took him away to NICU for examination & treatments.
Notice from surgery was the umbilical cord to the baby was kinked. This compromised oxygen, blood & nutrients to the baby. We don’t know how long it’s been that way or how.
Upon assessment it was very evident to notice his abdomen was very distended & discolored. They suspect a blockage or bowel perforation - both requiring surgery.
However his breathing was compromised. He aspirated on his first stool along with fluid.
His lungs & belly had to be suctioned. He was placed on a ventilator with 100% oxygen. For the first several hours a medication was titrated in the ventilator to relax his vessels, they were constricting.
Of course brain damage is questioned & a mri is needed but unable to do until he is not on a ventilator. So an EEG ( measures brain waves) was placed on his head for more than 24 hr to monitor for seizures. He was wrapped in a cooling blanket to assist with brain. He was very critical state.
This was all that day until that night.
They took him off the cooling blanket to get his body temp up enough to do his belly surgery.
December 14, 2023 at 7:45 a.m. Myles was taken to surgery. It lasted for little over 3 hours. Drs said procedure went well. Now it’s up to time & how his body will adapt to treatments. Still in critical condition.
There was a blockage where the lower part of the stomach meets the intestine. It had made a portion of his intestines twisted, not viable & perforation occurred.
About 50 % of his intestines were removed & a special feeding tube placed. He was kept sedated, still on the ventilator but goal to wean him down.
December 15, 2023 picc line had been inserted to start iv nutrition. Not able to use feeding tube until colon is healed up.
Kidneys are starting to work better. Has a Foley catheter. Noticed blood in tube from lungs, chest X-ray showed a partial right upper lung collapse. Had to go up on oxygen
December 16, 2023 Myles received blood product transfusions, platelets & fresh frozen plasma. Still on ventilator. He’s starting to stretch out his toes a little when you touch his little foot. Still no eye opening,
December 17, 2023 trying to wean him down from oxygen on the ventilator. Waiting on his colon to heal, waiting for him to arouse more. He is swollen from all the iv fluids. They will give diuretics to help draw that off.
December 18, 2023 Myles projection of time frame of hospitalization might be about 60 days. Could be longer, could be shorter. Some days may see improvement, other days may see new change, aN issue, a development, never know. It will be a long, slow recovery there. He is still very critical but stable for now.
Dr said what happened to Myles in vitro is a rare case. They don’t know why or how it happened or when it started. It was not anything that could’ve been prevented by Alicia & nothing she did to cause it. It just unnaturally occurred. Glad she noticed something didn’t seem right with her baby & body!
This was an emergency situation that had opportunity to be lethal. We thank God that both Myles & Alicia are alive.
Myles is a little fighter! His heart is strong! He comes from good blood of hard workers & believers that good can overcome!
In order to assist Myles, Josh & Alicia in this battle to recover, there will be a big need for assistance in their medical bills, traveling expenses, lodging, ect - not to mention just their regular routine home bills to take care of while they are away at the hospital.
Neither one of them are able to work currently while the baby is still intubated & in critical condition. Josh does plan to return to work as soon as able & drive back & forth.
Myles also has a big brother Brody (8) and big sister Arya (3). Everyone is divided up & we make arrangements to switch around to help out with them, when we’re not working.
Talk about the baby who stole Christmas!
If there weren’t any little kids around, then I’d be fine to skip Christmas. But a little something has to be done for them - Santa knows they’ve been good.
I’ve never done anything like this before. I’m the type who rarely asks for anything- I’m the fixer, the doer for others. But this has been & will continue to be a big burden on my kids. I help with what I can. I give of myself. I know this reading is very lengthy. I just tried to include details to help understand our situation & the condition of our sweet special baby Myles.
I appreciate everyone who took the time to read this. Whether you are able to assist in a donation or not, I also request saying a prayer, devotion or meditation on his behalf, for the doctors & nurses, also for his parents. Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital NICU staff have been exceptionally supportive, wonderful, patient & knowledgeable!
I feel so grateful to be able to have places available like this. To me it doesn’t matter the cost, we’ll give our all for his benefit. Myles deserves it. We all do! It feels so nice to have my co workers, friends, family & church to ask how he’s doing & want updates. Makes me feel like he is important! We all should be important to one another. Lift up each other, ask about each other.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
I’m sure also from Myles heart as well, he will be so grateful to one day be able to read this & see all the support, love & encouragement he with his family received! Thank you
May God Bless you!
