Help Baby Peyton Fight GM1 Gangliosidosis
Donation protected
Peyton Mixon needs your help!! Over the course of her short life, Peyton has battled health problems in and out of the hospital. Her parents, Zach and Jordan, noticed that Peyton was getting very sick after typically mild illnesses, and missing developmental milestones, so they began pushing for answers from doctors. After months of bloodwork, testing, and imaging, Peyton recently received a devastating diagnosis of GM1 Gangliosidosis.
GM1 Gangliosidosis is an extremely rare genetic disorder, affecting only 1 in every 100,000 to 200,000 people in the world. It is an aggressive disease that progresses quickly in infants like Peyton. It causes a buildup of molecules in tissues and organs, which causes irreversible damage to the brain and spinal cord. Unfortunately, there is no cure at this time for GM1 Gangliosidosis, and it is terminal without treatment. Some believe that a cure is imminent, so until then, Zach and Jordan are fighting to find off-label treatments to slow down the progression until a cure is found. This new diagnosis requires around the clock care, and therefore, Jordan will not be able to return to work so that she can provide the full-time care that Peyton needs.
As you can imagine, this news has been devastating for Zach, Jordan, and big sister Preslee, but they want to do everything they can to help support Peyton and provide her with the most normal life possible, given her circumstances. This is where they need your help!!! We are humbly asking for donations to support the Mixon family as they embark on this journey through their new reality. Your donations will go toward the astronomical medical bills that have already been incurred, ongoing Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions, adaptive equipment, treatments, and travel expenses should Peyton get into a clinical trial in the future. Updates on how baby Peyton is doing can be found on Instagram and Facebook. We sincerely appreciate your support during this difficult time.
