On Thursday June 2nd My sister Dani was admitted to United/Children's of St Paul for hemorrhaging due to a placental abruption. She was put on steroids and magnesium iv in case baby would need to be delivered early. They had planned on several weeks of bed rest. Early Saturday morning she went into what they thought was labor, after an ultrasound Dr. Discovered baby had turned butt down and she was dialted to 5 centimeters, they had to deliver baby at 23 weeks and 2 days. Preparing for the emergency c-section baby's heart beat was fading. William was delivered with a very faint heart beat at 5:55am on June 4th weighing 1lb 6 oz. 11 1/2 inches long. Her placenta had fully detached and they were very lucky they were able to deliver him when they did. William is on a ventilator his lungs are not mature enough to breathe on their own. He also has a feeding tube which currently is on hold until his bowel gasses and tummy x-rays can be cleared from issues. William is a week old now he had a pic line put in thru his leg, he has a second brain scan tomorrow to evaluate a grade 1 brain bleed he has on the left side of his brain. He is on a second round of treatment tryin to close a small hole in his heart. In big picture William is doing well for his gestational age but he has a very long journey ahead. They are over an hour and a half from home. Kyle will need to return to work but will be back and forth each week, Dani will need to stay in St Paul to be close with baby. They also have 3 girls at home that are being shuffled around that need time with them too.
