Hi everyone, our names are Danielle and Charlotte and we are trying to raise money for Bailey. Bailey is our friend's fur-baby and is a happy, sociable, loveable bundle of fun. We will tell a little story of Bailey in our friend's words....
''Bailey was born on the 31st May 2013 and we believe he was sent to us from above. For personal reasons, we could never have a child of our own, so Bailey is our world. We had a vision of this beautiful brown Cockapoo and he matched this perfectly, being the only one in the litter. As soon as we saw him, we fell in love. We have been inseparable since, having only spent 1 night apart. Bailey even has his own makeshift bed next to ours with a matching duvet cover. Bailey has been a part of our family for the last 11 years but unfortunately, on the 14th May this year a lump was removed from his mouth that has tested cancerous. Bailey has been diagnosed with Acanthomatous Ameloblastoma which is an aggressive from of mouth cancer. He was referred to an oncologist who said he would only survive a few more months without treatment. This news has left our family devastated. We are utterly heartbroken and cannot imagine a life without him. This has come as a huge shock to us as Bailey didn't seem unwell and has handled his illness like a hero. He's not just a dog, he is our whole world and fills the perfect dog shaped hole in our hearts. After the initial diagnosis we prepared for the worst, looking into how Bailey would spend his last days. We even looked into DigniPets so when the time came, he would be with us for his last moments. He has so much more life left to live and we are not ready to say goodbye''.
The life saving surgery Bailey needs includes removing part of his jaw. Needless to say he has been booked in for this without hesitation. His surgery is scheduled for Thursday 6th June. The aim is to remove the cancerous area from his jaw with a margin of around 1cm, hopefully removing the cancer. Bailey has already had surgery to remove the initial lump, along with a CT scan costing our friend and her partner over £5000. Bailey's insurance only covered £2000 of this If the part of the jaw isn't removed, the lump will return and the cancer will spread. This next surgery will cost between £6500 and £7500 meaning our friend must find over £10,000 to save her beloved little boy Bailey. The family have used all their savings and taken out a huge amount of debt to save his life and this total cost excludes potential complications.
Not everybody is fortunate enough to have financial reserves for these unforeseen tragedies. Any donations, big or small, will mean the world to our friend and her family as there is no greater gift to her than having Bailey by her side for the rest of his hopefully long and happy life. We
will share regular updates, including how Bailey is recovering from his surgery. Thank you for taking the time to read this, please share this post and pray for Bailey XOXO #helpbaileyfight #savebailey #bouncebackbailey #dogcancerfund
