Help Baleigh fight Thyroid Cancer
Donation protected
In November 2020 we received news that no family wants to receive (especially after the havoc that Covid had already caused through the year). Our youngest daughter Baleigh was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (Papillary Carcinoma of the Thyroid). She has had a lump on the right side of her throat for 2-3 years, but several doctors over that period felt it was just Thyroid nodules and didn’t feel it necessary to pursue. Thankfully, her PA Pam Foster thought they better get it checked it out and ordered an ultrasound. When the ultrasound showed multiple nodules, she decided we needed a biopsy. They biopsied the 5 biggest nodules on the right side and they all came back malignant. After multiple appointments with several specialists (ENT, hematologist, oncologist) Baleigh was referred to UT Southwestern in Dallas. It has been a long process (mainly because of Covid) but the surgery is FINALLY scheduled for April 30th. They will be removing the entire Thyroid and the lymph nodes near it. Her prognosis is cautiously good right now and we are crossing our fingers that she won’t have to go through chemotherapy, however, after the surgery she will need an iron infusion because her iron levels are extremely low. We are trying to help Baleigh and Casey cover some of the costs for the surgery and aftercare since they have used up most of their savings for all of these appointments, blood work/labs and multiple ultrasounds. Baleigh and Casey are a young couple (24 & 25 years old) with a 5 yr old and a 1 yr old. They are both working full time to make ends meet and are overwhelmed with this diagnosis, the surgery and recovery. Any help we can give them will take some of the burden off and hopefully make all of this a little easier on them.
