Dr Barbara is healing well, it’s slow but steady.

Hi, I'm Andrew Tanner and I'm a friend, chiropractic client, and colleague of Barbara Heyd.

Unfortunately, last Saturday Barbara fell in a yoga class badly breaking her arm and hitting her head. While performing a backbend she'd done countless times before, Barb leaned back a little too far, lost her balance and continued falling backwards scarily towards the hard wood floor. Her right forearm broke immediately when her hand impacted the floor. She crumpled down in pain as I ran over to her.

I saw the angst and frustration in her eyes when she realized her arm was broken. Before she nearly passed out from the waves of pain the first thing she said to me was: "How am I going to do chiro? It's my right hand..."

For a healer to lose their the use of their hand is really a devastating blow...

She is currently in a lot of pain and waiting to get a date for a likely surgery. After that, barring any setbacks, she will have 2-3 months of recuperation before she can use her healing hands again.

Those who know Barbara must know how devastated she is that she can't spend the holiday season healing and talking with all her favorite clients. And the stress that losing one's livelihood can bring.

While insurance will cover her medical bills, the problem for Barb is that she can't work until her arm heals and she has a beautiful healing center whose rent will still be due.

Barb has spent the last twenty years of her life practicing chiropractic, body work, and yoga to help people live better lives with less pain. And while not being a therapist she has always lent an ear to her client's challenges both physical and emotional.

But right now the tables have turned and she needs our help. She needs money to pay her rent for the next three months and not live in fear that she will have to close her doors.

Her center in Natick is a special place full of warmth, good tea, eclectic art, and always a 1000+ piece jigsaw puzzle to work on. Barbara has always charged modest fees for her services and has given more than she received over the years.

She deserves our help and support.

Please join me in helping Barbara during this time of need. December and January would normally be very busy and successful months for Barb but now she needs to focus her energy on healing herself.

The goal is to help her raise enough money to pay her rent and cover some modest living expenses for the next 3 months. If by chance we get some generous donors that want to give more than Barbara would likely use the money to take a well earned vacation and receive some healing therapies not covered by insurance. (She hasn't had a proper vacation in 20 years)

If 150 people could donate $100 then Barb would have enough money to pay her rent and business expenses for three months. Of course ANY amount will help.

If some generous friends can afford to give more than $100 it would be going to help a women who never really asked the world for much, accept the chance to help others.

For those who don't know Barbara that well I will just add that she is kind and considerate. She is one of the healthiest 71 year olds you've ever met. She is fearless and adventurous and a devoted student of yoga. This past autumn she was fearless enough to meditate in ice cold water in a Northern Vermont stream. A few mins before she fell she was the only student in the class doing a full headstand while 20 something year old women look on in awe. She is fun loving and quirky. She has never had a lot of money and doesn't own many things. More than the money the hardest thing for her over the next three months will be the fact that she won't get to see all her patients. Interacting with them and talking with them about their lives is one of her greatest joys.
