Please Help Save Barney with surgery.

Meet Barney, a sweet old dog who has had a rough start to his golden years. Barney was found in a home where his dad passed away, leaving him and another dog alone for 5 days without food or water. His brother was taken but nobody wanted to take on Barney in his state and he needed medical attention. When he came into my care, he was matted, messy, scared and clearly in pain.

After just hours in my care, I knew that Barney deserved a chance at a happy, comfortable life, and I was determined to give him that opportunity. Taking him to a local shelter would have likely meant the end of his story, as senior dogs with medical needs often have limited options. I couldn’t bear the thought of Barney’s story ending there. He deserved a chance to experience love, compassion, and proper medical care no matter his disability. That’s why I made the commitment to provide him with a loving and caring home, but I knew that his medical needs were beyond my means.

Barney’s situation is a reminder that every life, regardless of age or medical condition, is valuable and worthy of a second chance. With the right care and support, senior dogs like Barney have so much love and joy left to give.

A recent visit to the vet revealed that Barney is mostly blind with a large serious mass on his side, which is causing him great discomfort and difficulty in moving and laying down. I didn’t need a visit to the vet to see this enormous mass on him, I just needed to know what it was and if it could be removed so that Barney could have a better life. After doing blood work and an exam we found that he is healthy enough for surgery.

Barney deserves much better after enduring such hardship. Despite his age, he still has so much love to give and needs a caring loving home, which I am willing to provide. However, he urgently needs surgery to remove the mass, which is estimated to cost upwards of $3,500. Your support can make all the difference in Barney’s life by donating to his medical care.
