Hi. I’m Timm Martin, one of Barry Goldberg’s best friends,

I’ve known Barry forever; Harvey Mandel introduced us when I played bass in Harvey’s band back in the 70’s. I’m raising money to help Barry Goldberg's family. Since Barry's passing, everything has been a mess.

Barry and his family have been through a war since Barry was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma beginning in 2014. He kept it hidden as long as he could, until it became noticeable – namely that he had trouble playing the keys, and had to stop working.

Barry finally succumbed to his illnesses after 10 long, challenging years, and left us for heaven this past Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025.

His savings have been wiped out, trying to keep up with all the medical bills, and living expenses since he couldn’t work. To top it off, Gail, his wife of 53 years, has encountered her own health issues keeping her from working as well. They were together in assisted living, and both back and forth from the hospital fighting to survive this last year. But Barry has left nothing for Gail, let alone anything to cover his burial and funeral expenses.

To support Barry and Gail now, we are changing up Barry’s GoFundMe, to raise the money for Barry’s burial and funeral expenses, and financial assistance for Barry’s wife Gail, who continues to need our help with her medical and living expenses.

Barry Goldberg was a renowned keyboardist, songwriter, recording artist and Grammy-nominated producer. He knocked down racial barriers in South Side 60s Chicago to learn the blues from iconic blues masters Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, Little Walter, and Howlin' Wolf. He backed Bob Dylan’s 1965 historic 'electrified' gig at Newport. He formed bands with Steve Miller and his best friend Mike Bloomfield. Rod Stewart, Gladys Knight, Joe Cocker, Steve Miller, Leonard Cohen, The Byrds, The Ramones, Percy Sledge, Duane Allman, Mitch Ryder, and so many more recorded his songs.

For the last 20 years, he headed the Chicago Blues Reunion, a band that over the past two decades toured and recorded with an array of seasoned blues practitioners including Sam Lay, Nick Gravenites, Harvey Mandel, Corky Siegel, Tracy Nelson, Charlie Musselwhite, Jimmy Vivino, Marcy Levy, Rob Stone, Gary Malabar, Rick Reed and others. And recently, he toured and recorded with The Rides, a musical partnership with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Stephen Stills.
