Help Basant and her sisters get out of Gaza
Hello, our story began 95 days ago when the war began on Gaza and destroyed everything.
My name is Basant Mohammed Qeshta and I am 21 years old. I was studying at the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Azhar University in Gaza before the war started. We were displaced from our house because the occupation sent us messages on our phones and ordered us to immediately evacuate. We went to our relatives' house. We were more than 3 families in one house and it was difficult but after a period of time, we went back to our house because it was classified as a safe area temporarily. Life here has become very difficult and providing basic needs of food, flour and water is very difficult because the occupation cut off electricity and water to Gaza and prevented the entry of commercial goods trucks. We do not know how long the war will continue. Our goal is to secure our travel fees from Gaza and for me and my sisters to complete our university education in Egypt.
Al Azhar University now:
My sister Haneen turned 18 years old on January 1, 2024. In 2023, she graduated from the secondary school with an average of 98%. She was applying and trying to get a scholarship at the Qasimiya University in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, but did not complete the grant procedures because she needed an IELTS certificate. She was trying to do the IELTS test but Gaza was shelled and life stopped and it became impossible to get it done. She now strives to get any grant to complete her studies outside of Gaza and we hope that we can have your help.
My sister Aseel is 19 years old. She was studying at Al-Aqsa University at the College of Nursing in her second year, but because of the war on Gaza, life stopped and her studies stopped. The university became a place for displaced people and studying there is not possible now. The war is ongoing and the displaced can not leave and go to their homes. Her dream was to become a nurse and help people in need but it is not possible to achieve this dream in Gaza. The only solution is to travel and enroll in a university in Egypt to complete her education.
The war stole our dreams and stole our lives. As you can see the volume of destruction and murder is huge. More than 30 thousand martyrs and missing during this period and the number is still growing. Our mom is an Egyptian, and we were supposed to apply for citizenship but nationality procedures were not completed because of the war. We really do not want to die in this war. Our dream is to continue our education and our careers but the only way to survive or complete our education is to pay $ 7,000 for each of our family members to get to Egypt and finish our nationality application to be able to study.
Please help us achieve our dream and exit from under fire. Donate what you can to keep us stay alive and finish our education.
