Help Bea and Juju recover from MOVING TRUCK THEFT

Donation protected

Last night, the night of Jan. 24th was supposed to have been our last night here in Los Angeles, Ca.

We had filled our car with some of our last remaining things to be loaded into the uhaul and drove the three or so blocks over to where our truck was parked around.. 10:30pm.

The truck was around 85 or maybe even 90% full of our belongings, when we locked and secured the uhaul truck and headed back to our apartment, that we might fill the car with what maybe would have been our second to last load.

We were SO ready to leave this place. We rested awhile, ate and made plans for the drive ahead. When we went back to the street where our moving truck was parked, our truck was NOT THERE.

We assumed it had been towed, because LA parking enforcement are their own unique brand of bully- and called the local tow companies.

None of them had towed our uhaul.

We filed a police report, of course- but it felt more like a perfunctory formality than an active solution, and the truth is, Jusits and myself have more faith in the people who stole our truck than we have faith in a collection of people who … routinely

take human life with impunity and suffer virtually zero consequences for such actions.

Our entire life was in that truck. Everything that we owned that was of any value is surely now gone, sold or destroyed,

and I’m certain our childhood keepsakes,

Our shared Family heirlooms are now garbage, meaningless nonsense to whoever took the truck- abandoned trash on the side of some f*cking road or highway somewhere.

Our hearts are as broken as our dreams, as broken as our faith in human decency. Goodness and kindness are frail things.

I am grateful for the two bags of clothes, the three instruments, and the few precious things we still have that we hadn’t put in the truck yet..

But Justis and I need to leave this place as soon as we possibly can, before the ugliness and cruelty of this place bleeds into us and twists us into unrecognizable versions of ourselves.
