Please Help The Beat Museum Survive the Pandemic!
Hello friends:
Like everyone else, we're doing our best to adapt as quickly as possible to the situation at hand.
Our first priority is our staff, to continue to pay them while they work from home, so we can all come back together once we reopen. Our second priority is to our extended community of guests and visitors, keeping ourselves soluble so we can be here for you when we reopen.
How you can help us survive this difficult and uncertain time:
• Please contribute to this GoFundMe campaign now, if you can. Any amount small and large is greatly appreciated! Our goal is to ensure we can meet our financial obligations for the next 90 days. Between payroll, rent and other requirements, we need to raise about $10,000 a month to ensure we can survive. That is why we're asking for $30,000.
• We're adding new and exclusive online content, including stories, interviews and other footage from the archives which will be available to our Members. Becoming a Member unlocks access to all this excellent new material.
Why the Beat Museum Must Survive:
Another important part of our work is behind the scenes. The Beat Museum is home to one of the most extensive collections of Beat Generation material in the world, including hundreds of rare books, original letters, ephemera, paintings and other artworks, photographs, recordings, personal effects, and more. Additionally, many items are on loan from their owners. We regard our stewardship of all this material with the utmost seriousness.
Right now we need the help of our community.
There will be a time when we'll all gather here together again, to enjoy poetry readings, performances, films, and one another once more, and to celebrate the indomitable spirit of North Beach. In the meantime, we're reaching out to everyone we can to support us in whatever ways they can—whether by buying online , making a donation, or becoming a Member.
Thank You!
