Help Beccy, Lizzie, and Jeanne Give Back to Marrakech
Donation protected
Our Why
Beccy, Lizzie, and Jeanne met in Morocco in October 2024 at a random Moroccan cooking class and became instant friends.☺️We stayed in touch after returning to our respective homes (the UK for Beccy and Lizzie, and the US for Jeanne), with each of us expressing a desire to return to Morocco. A story shared by Jeanne’s Marrakech taxi driver (a UK family purchasing and donating blankets to a local hospital before returning home) provided the inspiration for Jeanne’s return, not as a tourist but as a humanitarian. From there, it was natural to see if Beccy and Lizzie were interested in teaming up for a very grassroots effort to give back to the people, places, and city that touched our collective hearts. We now have a return trip planned for October 2025 to share our love.
Our Goals
- Purchase critically needed supplies to donate to Marrakech hospitals
- Purchase supplies to distribute to schools both in Marrakech and in the more remote villages in the Atlas Mountains
- Gather gently used clothing and tennis shoes to donate to children/teens
- Collect monetary donations that we will convert to Euros or MAD to (discreetly) distribute to families
Distribute everything collected (items + funds) within a 10-day period between 2 October - 12 October 2025, in Marrakech and the surrounding areas and villages.
How Your Donation Will Be Used
Below is a non-comprehensive list of items that we think are necessary or at least very useful and would be greatly appreciated. We will use the funds raised to purchase these items and stuff our suitcases with them. We also plan to bring some money which we will hand out as cash donations to families. 100% of anything donated (minus the service fee unless you choose to cover this) will go with us on the trip.
- Cotton or fleece blankets
- Emergency thermal blankets (think “space” blanket)
- Puffer-style coats and vests for children, women, and men
- Gauze bandages, medical tape & other first aid supplies
- Hand sanitizer (smaller sizes, not a giant bottle)
- Culturally-appropriate coloring books for children
- School supplies: spiral notebooks in any size, pens, colored pencils, erasers, etc.
- Personal hygiene products for women and girls
If you have an idea about something you'd like to donate, please contact one of us. While we have good intentions and are willing to put in the work, we are far from being experts at this.
