Help Becky & Girls Start Over After Toxic Relationship

Donation protected
This may be the most humbling thing I've experienced, but I'm reaching out and asking for help because my girls and I need it. I had a great clientele doing hair in Manhattan Beach for 20+ years, but made the conscious decision with my husband that when we had kids, I would stop working and stay home to raise them. Becoming reliant on him financially was very difficult because I had always been so independent.

I am still doing hair from home, I have an online business selling hair and skin care products, and I have our girls the majority of the time. But I also have all the bills of a new apartment that I need help with for the next few months, until I can get back on my feet.

Any and all support and shares are greatly appreciated, to say the very least, and I'm thankful for the village I have that has helped get me and my kids out of such a toxic environment.

Here's to a new chapter filled only with love, and light, and positive examples for my girls. We're sending love to you all.

Message from my Mom:

Hi, my name is Meryl. I am Becky's Mom and I'm asking for help for Becky to get out of an emotionally and psychologically abusive and potentially dangerous situation.

She is married with two adorable daughters, ages 4 1/2 and 2. Her husband is bipolar (unmedicated) and has ADHD, and he had her, and the girls trapped in an ugly, emotionally and psychologically abusive, mean, domineering daily hell that they had no way out of. He has been physically abusive in the past, so it was only a matter of time until he was physically abusive again. She has no financial help and had nowhere to go. She agreed to give up her career as a hairdresser to stay home and raise their babies and now has no clients, no income, and had no way out. He is cruel to her and even puts the babies in the middle, bad-mouthing her to the girls. She is the one cooking, cleaning, shopping, doing laundry, trying to supply the girls with social interaction and recreation. Now that he is the only one working, he kept exclusive control of the money to the point that he bought the groceries and wouldn’t even give her gas money. He works from home where he had all the interaction with the girls that he wanted and he closely monitored Becky’s behavior and actions, she was not free to come and go and he picked fights if she was not completely submissive and deferential to him in all matters. But he does not contribute to the daily maintenance of the girls or the house. He would neither allow her to use "his" newer, safer car nor would he pay to have her 19-year-old car maintained even though she is driving his girls around in it. He greeted her in the morning with comments like, "What's up, jerk," and did not assist Becky in caring for the 2-year-old while getting the 4-year-old ready for school or getting the 4-year-old ready for school himself. The girls are becoming afraid of him, and he is trying to train the 4-year-old to report back to him on everything Mommy says and then uses it against her, to or in front of the girls.

Becky is working on getting clients back and growing her direct marketing business. In the meantime, she needs enough money to be able to pay rent, utilities, groceries, insurance and gas (about $4,000 per month) for at least a few months while she is rebuilding her clientele and building her direct marketing business.

I'm respectfully asking for you to contribute whatever you can to allow Becky and the girls to gain their freedom and independence and begin to live healthy lives free of tyranny. I know that sounds melodramatic, but it is the right word to use in this case.
