Help Support Becky Horan, Our Mom's Fight Against Stage 4 Breast Cancer

The Family of Becky Horan has come together to create this GoFundMe to help with treatment expenses. Our mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. She is seeking alternative holistic routes to help prolong her life.

Our mom is a strong, loyal, hardworking, generous, knowledgeable, selfless, nurturing, a go-getter and loving person. She is an amazing "Nana" to 5 beautiful grandbabies. Some would say she is like a Superwoman.

Our mom's journey started in November of 2021 our mom was first diagnosed with Stage 2B, Grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma. Since that time from first diagnosis, she has completed many chemotherapy treatments. She completed surgery 6/01/2023 and 4 weeks of Radiation Therapy on 08/12/2022. Since then she has been in the clear.

Due to her cancer being fed by estrogen she wanted to have a total hysterectomy but kept being told that it is not medically necessary or it will not be covered by insurance, even seeking out second opinions by other Oncologists. Finally, her current Oncologist agreed with her plan and she had her total hysterectomy on 04/16/2024. Metastatic breast cancer was incidentally found in the peritoneal lining of her abdomen, her ovaries, and fallopian tubes. She has gone from curable/treatable to terminal.

While her oncologist wanted to allow her time to heal from her surgery, on 5/6/2024, she had a PET scan which revealed metastasis to her bone (hip) and to her spine. She was started on chemotherapy again. She continues to experience neuropathy, chemotherapy induced fatigue, shortness of breath and Anastrozole induced joint pain despite trying to be active.

On 8/28/24 her follow up PET scan showed progression of her cancer by greater than 50% on her bone lesions. Her oncologist brought her case to a tumor care conference on 9/4/2024, which confirmed disease progression by greater than 50%. Her Oncologist stopped her current treatment for 2 weeks to allow her bone marrow to heal before she starts another form of Targeted chemotherapy, which has toxic side effects and requires close monitoring for toxicity.

Despite being told that her cancer is incurable, our mom is determined to fight aggressively. After extensive research and wanting a better quality of life and failing on many chemotherapies, she is choosing to pursue a holistic approach to her care. This can boost her immunity and eliminate cancer cells and change the terrain (inner body environment) of her body to prevent cancer from thriving and address the root cause of her illness.

This GoFundMe Campaign is a vital part of her fight. Your support will help cover these essential expenses, allowing her to focus on her health and the overwhelming strain. Much of our mom's treatment plan is not covered under her insurance. We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial burden our mom and dad will be facing.

If you know our mom, she is not one to ask for help. This is very challenging for our mom to be open and vulnerable but we feel this is appropriate to seek help as she is in this fight.
