BELLA’S results are in from her 1st month of meds!
Bella’s results are in from her first month on her meds! Her numbers were still high so our bet doubled her dose. One week after the increase she is tolerating the meds well so far! We will go in again in another 2 weeks to see if the has shifted her numbers down and she can level off at that dosage. Meanwhile Bella continues to be a strong little girl, as playful and happy as ever. THANK YOU ALL so much for making this possible!
Bella’s results are in from her second round of testing. She is positive for Pituitary Cushing’s disease and has begun medication to manage this condition. She will be on the medication for life now and our vet Dr. Slaton says that she can do well on this long term. She will go back in 3 weeks for follow-up bloodwork and check up and then get regular blood work every 3-6 months. She is a strong little girl!!
Bella went in for her second round of testing yesterday along with her post-surgical re-check. I dropped her off at 7:30 a.m. for an 8 hour test which involves several blood draws in that time period. Dr. Slaton said she’s healing perfectly and can resume her normal activity! Yay!!! Results of the test should come in this evening or tomorrow. They believe she may have Cushing’s Disease but the biopsies were negative / benign and that’s GREAT NEWS. If it is Cushing’s, we can manage that long term with medication and regular bloodwork. Will keep you all posted and THANK YOU AGAIN for maki g this all possible for our little precious Bella!! She is such a gift!
Bella’s biopsy results came back negative!!! SUCH A RELIEF!! She will now begin a second round of testing and her post-surgical follw-up!
She is healing nicely and doing SO well thanks to Dr. Slaton and the amazing exploratory surgery that gave us some answers! Also 13 teeth were removed along with the biopsies and removal of things that could be safely removed!
THANK YOU ALL SO MICH!! Because of you, this was all possible. Sending much love to you all!!
Bella is a rescue whose young life almost ended 9 years ago when the family who raised her dumped her at South Central Los Angeles shelter along with her sister. Both were infested with fleas and could barely breathe due to a severe respiratory infection and were slated to be euthanized...people don’t adopt sick dogs especially when they are bonded with another dog and need to be adopted together. We took one look at those tiny faces and our hearts were theirs! We swooped them up that minute.
Bella is a fighter! She survived the infection, euthanasia at the shelter and heartbreak after her family dumped her. She was determined to live and has spent her life loving, giving out kisses and cuddles to so many people who have need hope through this last year as a part of our sanctuary.
Now, diagnosed with life threatening tumors on her liver, she needs immediate surgery that can save her life!
Due to the last challenging year, like so many others, our businesses have taken a huge hit. Without help we will not be able to afford to give Bella the chance she deserves to have this life saving surgery.
Please donate anything you can spare to Help save Bella! No amount is too little as every dollar will help!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donation!!! Saving Bella means the world to us.
