Help Ben walk without pain
Donation protected
NHS England & our CCG will NOT FUND Ben's CRUCIAL & LIFE CHANGING treatment for his cerebral palsy. Without treatment Ben's muscles can't develop correctly as he grows leaving him in pain on a daily basis. We are FORCED to continue to try & raise £1,800 every MONTH to FUND this vital treatment for Ben because without it he faces a LIFE OF PAIN. The ballance on this page is the amount paid out so far on Ben's treatment & is not the balance of funds available. Ben has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy. He needed & was accepted by the NHS for SDR spinal surgery to permanently relieve his spasticity, remove the extreme muscle tightness, allow him to learn to walk, become independent & give him a BETTER QUALITY of life. After two years of pre op tests & treatment in preparation for his surgery, funding to the NHS was cut & Ben's life changing surgery was cancelled. We then received a BILL for £11,440 to be paid if the surgery was to go ahead as this was the amount of money that the NHS no longer had. We had a child fully prepared for major spinal surgery, in absolute agony because had been taken of all his pain meds in preparation for his surgery & no money to pay the bill with the NHS. We immediately sent up a national appeal. Ben was very lucky & an anomanous donator paid the balance with the NHS & Ben's surgery went ahead at the QMC NHS hospital. Ben went into hospital a very poorly disabled little boy. Just hour's after his surgery Ben got up & took his very first independent steps, the surgery was a complete success. Ben had his rehabilitation treatment plan set up, planned & began the very next day on the ward at the QMC with an NHS physiotherapist. Four day's later he WALKED out of hospital. Ben had only been home a few days when the NHS informed us that due to further funding cuts they would not now fund any of Ben's cerebral palsy treatment for his rehabilitation. We are left with no choice but to sorce private treatment. Every session of treatment costs £151.10 for the hour. It is crucial for Ben to receive two sessions of treatment a week until he stops growing to alow his muscles to develop correctly. All Ben has ever wanted is a pain free life. Ben is currently recovering from a hip dislocation. We haven't been able to afford the treatment just recently and this has resulted in excessive strain on his muscles and as a result Ben's hip rotated and dislocated.
