Help Benjamin Secure a Working Vehicle!

My name is Benjamin & I need support getting a reliable vehicle!

In the last two months I have had my car stolen from my driveway, put $2,500 in an old truck that continues to breakdown, & been in a major car accident while in the back of an Uber. All of this happened while I am stilling paying off debt accrued on the car that was stolen from my driveway. On top of all of that, because the stolen car belonged to my deceased father, I won't be getting any insurance payout & have struggled to get access to the car even after it's been found, impounded, & described by the police as totaled.

I need a car for a lot of reasons. I live in a part of North Portland with only one nearby bus route. I have a 90-pound bulldog who isn't allowed on the bus. Following my the car accident, I have been dealing with chronic pain, making it difficult to bike every day. I work for a migrant justice non-profit that sometimes necessitates I arrive early in the morning to support community members attending mandatory hearings. I organize with the Warm Springs Water Coalition as part of their steering committee, meaning during the warm months I should be regularly driving 2+ hours to deliver potable water to Warm Springs. I have been part of other mutual-aid efforts moving supplies across the state to get to communities in need, something that I'll need to do again in the event of disasters like wildfires. All of my life & community service work has been organized around having a reliable vehicle!

All the funds accrued by this GoFundMe would go directly to putting a down-payment on a functioning Toyota truck of some kind. I would use this truck to continue my mutual aid & community organizing work, commute to any work obligations, transport my big dog, move things for my friends & family, & keep being able to enjoy getting out to the woods—my happiest place!
