Help bereaved families tackle male violence
There is an epidemic of violence against women and girls.
Every three days a woman is killed by a man.
We are two mums whose daughters were murdered. We have worked with a network of families who have also lost a loved one to male violence, to set up a campaign organisation and network called Killed Women. Because we will not sit back and let this happen to another family.
Our message is simple; we don’t want sympathy. What we want is resources and real action on the ground to stop this tidal wave of violence and the endless injustice in our courts.
That’s why we have set up campaigning organisation and network Killed Women, to raise awareness and demand action.
Our work so far:
Killed Women is a campaign network for families who have lost a loved one to male violence. Working with violence against women and girls activists and campaigners, we fight for better protection for women, justice for victims, and improved support for bereaved families, in particular children whose mothers have been killed.
Despite only launching in Dec 2022, we've already had huge impact, becoming a high profile voice on violence against women. Everyone from the BBC 6 and 10 o'clock news to The Sun, Today programme to Grazia, BBC Breakfast to Lorraine have all covered our work. You can see all our media work here
Last year we launched our You Were Told: A Voice for Killed Women report that you can find here The report was based on the findings of the first national survey for bereaved families of women killed, that we developed with global research organisation Ipsos Mori. The report was launched with a powerful installation outside Parliament of 108 protest placards, each representing a woman killed in the last 12 months and each with a message written by a bereaved family.
Most importantly we have already had several campaign wins, including new legislation that recognises domestic abuse within sentencing.
Your donation:
Your donation will help us elevate the voice of bereaved families and continue to build this organisation, to create a legacy of change that ensures justice and protection for women in the future.
We’ll use the funds we raise to support our work, to reach out to other families and to start to create a manifesto for change. With your help, we hope to tackle sub-standard investigations by police; lenient sentences; the ongoing failure to stop serial abusers; the lack of support for bereaved families; the lack of effective education about domestic abuse in schools, and much more.
