Help Berliner Kindl Reopen and Assist Employees

Donation protected
Berliner Kindl German restaurant in Black Mountain, NC has been proudly serving traditional German food to the community since 1987. This past April, Roger & Kristy Schultz purchased the restaurant from longtime owners Sharon and Freddie Trube and were committed to continuing the restaurant's proud legacy.
On Sept. 27, Hurricane Helene had a massive impact on our town, which borders Asheville. We are grateful that our restaurant suffered no major structural damage. However, with the loss of power and water, we immediately donated whatever food we could salvage to the local relief efforts and had to dispose of the rest of our inventory. As of October 6, we still have no water and we are unsure when we may be able to open our doors again. Our loyal and hardworking employees are safe, but all are residents of the Swannanoa valley and are enduring large-scale challenges related to the storm.
As new restaurant owners, we were looking forward to autumn, which is consistently the busy season with tourists who come to the area to appreciate its natural beauty. We had also been excitedly anticipating our first Oktoberfest celebrations with our local community.
We humbly ask for your help as we hope to assist our 20 employees financially while we learn about insurance and FEMA claims. Additionally, we will need to make storm-related repairs and replenish our stock as we look forward to reopening as soon as we are able. Thank you for your love and support for our restaurant and community!
