Help Bernie recover his sight

Hi, my name is Daniel and I am helping to raise funds for Bernie Horman after a horrific accident where he was glassed in the face at a gathering on Friday 26th November 2021.

 

Bernie was flown by Royal Flying Doctors to Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital to undergo surgery to save his right eye. After undergoing hours of extensive repairs, Bernie has been left without vision in his damaged eye, only being able to see light when shined in.

 

Further surgery will be completed coming Friday 3rd December 2021, after his eye has healed enough to operate on, to try and recover any additional sight. Doctors are hoping to be able to recuperate minimal blurred vision, but the eye still has extensive damage and results will not be known until more than a week after the initial incident.

 

Bernie has been avid footballer and part of the Moranbah, Clermont and surrounding area communities for years. He may likely never be able to play football or contact sport again and will have to retrain his remaining eye for months before he can begin learning to complete tasks such as driving and high risk work as a Mechanical Fitter.

 

This Go Fund Me will be used to help Bernie with his medical expenses, both current and ongoing as a lot of physical therapy, specialist visits, time off work and travel will be required for this long journey to recovery. This will also be used to assist family members, including his amazing sister Tahnee who has been by his side since the incident, with accommodation and travel expenses to ensure Bernie not only recovers physically, but mentally as well.
