Help Bert Martin's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Today I come to you on behalf of my brother, Bert Martin. We, as a family, are working to help keep him out of a nursing home on a permanent basis. He has been very sick and in the hospital with lung complications (infection, pneumonia, bottom portion of lungs not getting oxygen, etc. due to damage from a stroke he suffered 11 years ago) for 5 months now. He’s been in the hospital so long that he is about to exhaust his Medicare benefits. After that, all expenses will be his to pay. The alternative is that he can go into a nursing facility, sign his social security check over to them and be left there permanently. What’s ironic is that he has recovered to the point that he could go to a Skilled Nursing Facility to do rehab and recover his strength, but it would have to be out of pocket. In order to regain his benefits, he must be out of the hospital for 60 days in a row. What we were hoping to do is find a rehab nursing home where he can go and begin his recovery and pay for the first 60 days and any other expenses, until his benefits begin again.
That’s where you come in. We need your help to be able to do this. Bert is the oldest of 7 children and has been a wonderful older brother, helping take care of the rest of us when we were small. He is a very hard-working man who has overcome a lot of health issues, including the stroke mentioned above. In the past, he was the first in line to help anyone that needed it. He is a retired graphic designer, who up until this health issue, had a couple of clients he worked with on a regular basis, but sadly they have had to move on to someone else because of the length of time he has been sick. So, as you can see, all avenues of revenue have dried up.
If there was any other way to get the funds needed, believe me, we would not be asking for help. But at this time, it’s the only way. I pray that you will consider helping us out. If you have any questions, please contact me through Messenger and I will try my best to help you. I would really appreciate it if you could share this with your friends so that we can reach as many people as possible.
Thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Glenda Martin Miley
