Help Beth and Emrys become parents

Beth and Emrys are a couple living in Glasgow Southside, Scotland. They have three cats, are involved in local queer activism and are both trans and disabled. Beth is a non binary trans woman and Emrys is a non binary trans man.

Emrys was born with gastroschsis, a condition which means that his small intestine was on the outside when he was born and due to this he has had many surgeries including one to get rid of a hernia when he was 7. In May 2017 Emrys started trying for a baby as a single parent by choice with a known donor using the popular at-home AI method. However this was unsuccessful time and time again and Emrys started worrying. He booked an appointment with the doctor who looked after him for gastroschisis for advice on possible tube issues. The doctor advised that the risk of tube damage from surgeries was incredibly high due to the location and Emrys then got a referral to the fertility test service as well as going to his GP for help with regular blood tests and progesterone tracking.

Throughout this time Emrys was supported majorly by close friends and various partners as he continued to do it alone. However in November 2017, Emrys decided to take a cycle break. In that ‘break’ month, Emrys and one of his partners, Beth, accidentally conceived together. They lost the baby on the 18th of December, three days before Emrys’ birthday. In the time that Emrys and Beth had knowledge of the pregnancy they thought long and hard about what would happen and Beth realised that she deeply wanted children just as much as Emrys. After recovering from the miscarriage, they started trying together using Beth’s sperm, and Beth came off of hormones.

However due to complications including Beth’s previous testicular cancer as well as usage of various hormones, they were unsuccessful time and time again. Emrys’ test results weren’t looking good and then Beth decided to get her sperm tested and it came back as incredibly low. The two were devastated but optimistic it would happen in the end and started thinking of other ways to have a baby together.

They have decided to go with GCRM clinic which, although the most expensive, is also the one with the highest results.

Emrys and Beth are immensely grateful for any donations.

Love,
Emrys and Beth
