Help Beth Fight Cancer
Donation protected
As some of you may know, my mother Beth Sinclair has been battling endometrial cancer for the last two years. Since 2018 she has gone through surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and an experimental drug trial. This fall we learned that the tumour has returned.
There is hope however! Her oncologist has recommended a promising immunotherapy drug called Keytruda. Unfortunately, despite being approved by Health Canada and prescribed by her doctor Keytruda is not covered for endometrial cancer by OHIP or any other government funding program. The treatment is covered for other more common cancers such as skin and lung cancer. With the help of staff at London Regional Cancer Program we have exhausted all coverage options at this point. Beth is scheduled for her first treatment on Friday Dec 11th.
As a retired teacher, Beth's benefits only cover a maximum of $3,400 per year. Keytruda will cost $10,361.65 per treatment every three weeks. This works out to roughly $178,601 for a year of treatment. We currently think Beth may need as much as a year's worth of treatment. This is why we're here today on Go Fund Me asking for your help. Beth would not have made it this far without the support of her amazing friends and family.
You may know Beth as a friend and colleague from her 32 year career at Norwell District Secondary School. Maybe you know her as a fellow member of Avondale United Church in Tillsonburg or from her various volunteer activities in her community. She is a beloved grandmother, mother, sister, and friend. Her famous sense of humour and hard work have gotten her this far in her battle. If you are able, we'd really appreciate your help now with this unexpected expense.
Whether you're able to help financially or not, please consider sharing this page with others and spreading the word. Also, please consider contacting your local MPP about this issue. Life saving cancer treatment should not be available only to those who can afford it.
Any funds that are not used for treatment will be donated to the London Regional Cancer Program.
