Help Bethany fight cancer
Donation protected
Bethany is our 39 year old sister with a recent breast cancer diagnosis. (Stage 2B Level 3)
Bethany is an amazingly generous and bubbly person. She followed her love of caring for others into the nursing field first as a BSN, then RN, then MSN. She served in the VA hospital while her husband, Myk was on active duty in the military.
After his discharge, they relocated closer to family, where she worked at a local hospital, then transferred into hospice care. It takes a very special and compassionate person to work in hospice, and have the grace to be a positive person for not only the patient, but the family around them.
She went further with her passion for helping others, and is an assistant professor in the nursing program at NNU where she teaches patient care and advocates to her students about showing compassion and treating patients with grace.
Bethany was working as both an assistant professor, and in hospice care, trying to pay down student loans from nursing school and help offset the added expenses that come with being a parent.
Since her diagnosis, she has had to leave her hospice job, and as she goes through months of chemo and treatment, their expenses are only going to go up, not down. After the chemo, surgeries, and radiation treatments, Bethany is going to be left weak.
It may take up to a year before she can go back to nursing
again, and we are asking for help to financially support her family during this time. The university is allowing her to work remotely and being flexible with her shifts.
As Bethany starts her first round of Chemo today, she faces the difficult journey of stepping to the other side of the stethoscope and becoming a patient. She is so used to caring for others, that it has been very difficult to ask anyone for help.
Although insurance is covering a great deal, she faces a massive amount of copays and out-of-pocket costs, especially as her deductible resets at the end of this month, and she also incurs costs of needed items to help ease the side effects of the chemo and radiation treatments.
Help us lift up Bethany and her family during this difficult time, and show her the compassion that she has shown countless others in her career.
