Help Betsy fight Cervical Cancer

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

My name is Stephanie, I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a PLEA for your support. My beautiful wife, Betsy (on the left in the photo), has been diagnosed with cervical cancer, a battle that has quickly turned our lives upside down.
*2/4/24 update.. sometime in mid-January Betsy developed some UTI symptoms that we were unsure of at the time.. fast forward 2 weeks, her right side and back began to become painful and discomfort in pelvic region was worsened. After a chat with our Naturopath, we decided it was finally time to seek additional medical attention. On 2/1 we went to urgent care for what we though was a Bladder/Kidney infection.. Urgent care sent us to ER saying possible Kidney stones. Check in at 10:45am to ER and wait for what seemed like an eternity to hear answers (Betsy was in so much pain and discomfort at this point I felt helpless.). CT was done and shined light on our problems.. Unsure of complete cause right now, but she is battling an abscessed right kidney, inflamed left kidney, VERY enlarged bladder and obstructions of both ureters.. fast forward to now, she has a drain tube in her left kidney to drain urine, a drain in the abscess around the right kidney to drain that (waiting for cultures), a catheter to help drain her bladder, and we are stuck in the hospital for a few more days.
Doctor says they hope to swap drains out in right kidney on Monday to move from abscess to actual kidney. These drains as of right now will stay in for 2-3 weeks or longer depending on several factors. Stents may need to be placed in her ureters to maintain urine flow, but we have not gotten that far yet. One day at a time.
I will most likely take leave from work to be with her full-time, so things will get very tight financially. I know our God is a provider and we still believe for a miracle.

For those of you that haven't had the chance to meet her, Betsy is a caring, funny and loving human being with a contagious smile. March 2023 came with some surprising news.. Betsy was diagnosed with stage 2B Cervical cancer. The very next day we began her journey back to health, not knowing exactly what that would look like. In June, MRI showed a 3cm tumor on her cervix that is, at the moment, inoperable to remove. We are praying and believing that it is healing and shrinking with treatment and therapies. We go to see the oncologist Tuesday, October 17th for her 3 month follow up and MRI review. We are hopeful that we hear positive news on Tuesday. (I will update this as our journey continues)
***update 10/17 - Today has not been a good day. We saw the Oncologist today and it is not the results that we hoped for. The tumor is now about 6 cm (was 3 cm three months ago) and there is now lymph node involvement. The oncologist suggests Radiation and chemo. We see a naturopathic doctor in a week to discuss additional treatment options and/or supportive treatment options and another PET scan has been ordered to confirm lymph involvement.
I am at a loss for words right now and just scared if I'm honest. Please keep Betsy in your prayers and share this as much as you can with your networks with hopes it reaches the right hearts.***

With all of that being said, and despite her incredible strength and resilience, the financial burden and stress of medical bills, treatments, and ongoing care is overwhelming. As we face this uphill battle, we are humbly asking for your help.

Our needs:
  • Funds for ongoing medical treatments and procedures.
  • Assistance with mounting hospital/doctor bills.
  • Support for necessary medications/supplements and therapies.
  • Travel expenses related to seeking specialized treatment if needed.
  • Everyday expenses as we juggle work and caregiving.

How you can help:
Your donation, no matter the size, can make a significant difference in our journey. Together, we can help Betsy fight this battle with hope and courage. Your support will provide us with the means to focus on her health and well-being.

Please consider contributing and sharing this campaign with your network. Every donation and share brings us one step closer to healing.
We also ask that you join us in prayer and in believing for the miracle of healing that God will provide.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your love, support, and generosity during this challenging time. Your kindness means the world to us.

With love and gratitude,
Stephanie Tolbert.
