In February 2016 my wife Betty was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer and COPD. To me this should have been caught a lot earlier.
She began radiation and chemotherapy for several months. The doctors and staff at St. Mary's Hospital here in Long Beach have been great and are taking good care of her. Then her health started to decline. I had to leave my job of 15 years that I love to come home to take care of her since there is no one else to do it.
As her condition declined she couldn't keep taking the chemo treatment because her blood count was too low, so they started giving her hydration.
She also started to lose her balance and has fell several times. The last time was last month and she broke her hip which required surgery. So at 73, she can't even get to the bathroom without assistance and requires 24/7 care.
I'm still looking for work from home. I am trying to set it up so I could get paid to be her caregiver, but it is still in the works. We need help with medical bills and most urgently rent for this month.
