Help Betty Poston fight stage 4 cancer
Donation protected
We are reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share the news that our mother, wife and friend, Betty Poston, only 50 years old, was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer on February 2, 2023. Ironically, she received the diagnosis on her birthday. She has tumors in her stomach, intestines, and several other parts of her body, and surgery is not an option. The diagnosis has been devastating and overwhelming. At first, she wanted to keep working and living life as normal, but as details unfolded it became clear that she needed to stop working and focus on herself and her fight for survival.
Prior to her diagnosis, Kinan had been working with her on diet and lifestyle changes which had begun to make a huge difference in her wellbeing. With the diagnosis, he shifted to researching alternatives to conventional cancer treatments. He also became her primary caregiver, which is a full-time job. Initially the fight began with natural therapies, which were preferred and have been very helpful, but with the aggressiveness of the cancer, as the symptoms became more frequent and severe, it became clear that incorporating chemotherapy was necessary.
With both Betty and Kinan unable to work, Betty’s partner Gaby was the only remaining breadwinner in their household. Initially they got by, but soon the financial burden of maintaining their household and the added expense of Betty’s treatment became too much. As Betty began to need 24/7 assistance due to chemotherapy side effects, Gaby stopped working so she could help Kinan care for Betty. To survive, they have been forced to give up their home and move to Sacramento, CA to live with Betty’s elderly parents.
Betty is fighting for her life and needs your help. She has never been the type of person to ask for help, so we have become her advocates. We have set up this GoFundMe to help with her mounting expenses. Contributions will go to covering the cost of the many treatments and services that she needs to continue her fight.
Your generosity would not only ease the burden on our family, but it would also bring hope and positivity into Betty’s life during a challenging time. If you are unable to donate, please know that your support in spreading the word about this campaign is equally valuable. Any assistance in reaching our goal would mean the world to us. Please share this page with your friends and family on social media, email, or any other platform that you think would help us reach more people.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for considering contributing to Betty’s campaign. Your kindness, support and prayers are greatly appreciated.
With gratitude,
The Poston boys, Kinan, Lakin, and Andy, and Gaby Cardenas
