Help Beyond the Chair Co. Get Their Nonprofit Off the Ground

"Beyond the Chair Co." is a volunteer, grassroots nonprofit and feminist group that focuses on addressing the issues faced by beauty workers. This fundraiser will help our incorporated organization cover filing costs for the 501(c)(3) tax form for tax-exemption status, trademarking, and other business expenses. By overcoming these financial hurdles, we can move forward with applying for grants and making a meaningful impact in the beauty community.

At the core of our mission is enhancing beauty education and bettering labor disparities for beauty workers, including cosmetologists, barbers, estheticians, nail technicians, and makeup artists. Education is the key to progress and empowerment and is crucial in preventing workplace abuse and exploitation. We are committed to expanding the field of cosmetology by helping create higher education pathways, enabling cosmetologists to shape their own futures and break free from industry constraints.

We have already initiated discussions with colleges to create these educational opportunities, hosted research surveys on the industry and its needs, and created educational content for beauty workers at no cost to our organization. However, we aspire to support the beauty community further through two additional goals that necessitate the funds mentioned earlier. The first goal is to establish the Beyond the Chair scholarship fund, assisting cosmetologists in returning to college and transitioning away from the physical demands of the beauty industry. Our second goal is larger and will take longer, but we desire to help facilitate the creation of a Beauty Workers Union, uniting beauty professionals to advocate for improved industry conditions and foster a supportive community.
