Help BGHRVA Purchase Transportation

Donation protected
We, Narshara Tucker and Nicole Boyd, founded Black Girls Hike RVA (BGHRVA) in May 2020 because we wanted to create a safe and supportive space for women of color to enjoy the outdoors, specifically hiking. Many of Virginia’s greatest vistas, summits, and trails require us to travel beyond Richmond. We set up carpools and alternate driving our own personal cars to the destination. We would like to have our own transportation vehicle for these hikes as well as for our outreach youth hiking programs. Funds will go directly to purchasing a travel van and van insurance.

Members of BGHRVA will be able to ride to and from our hiking adventures across the state. As we solidify our youth hiking program, we will work with various programs to transport kids to various hiking locations including local trails, state parks, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Shenandoah National Park.  We appreciate your consideration in donating toward our purchase of a transportation van. We’d like to have the donations by June 1.

We cannot put into words what having our own transportation van would mean to our organization. Currently, we do not charge a fee for our monthly group hikes, but there are several costs that we incur while planning, leading and executing a great hiking experience for all. Your donation will help us connect other people with nature and expose them to the many benefits of hiking.

Thank-you so much for your kindness and support for our mission.
