BikePOC PNW is a community of cyclists of color on a mission to cultivate a space for BIPOC folks to ride, learn, forge friendships, build community, explore, and feel empowered. Over the next 6 months, we are aiming to raise $10,000 to offer our riders the support they need to make biking more accessible, more safe and more fun.
We’re humbled to share that our community is growing, and with that growth comes an increased need of support that reduces the barrier to entry to a historically white cis-male dominated sport and recreation. With your support, we will be able to practice the following values to even more riders of Color:
- We hold ourselves accountable for behaviors that may replicate/uphold white supremacy, patriarchal values and/or any form of oppression.
- We center women, femmes, trans and non-binary folks of color.
- We believe survivors of abuse and other types of harm.
- We acknowledge that the land on which we ride on is stolen. As such we treat it with respect and recognize that it belongs to the Indigenous Peoples whom hold a deep connection with it.
- Being part of this space is a privilege, not a right. Intent does not equal impact.
