Help Bill with Medical Costs Not Covered by VA

Donation protected
Hi there. My name is Amanda and I’m raising money for my stepdad, Bill.

As a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Bill is accustomed to fighting and pushing through situations that normal citizens have no need to worry about.
But lately, his mounting medical diagnoses, doctor visits, doctor appointments and emergency room visits have taken their toll; both mentally and physically.

Between years battling congestive heart failure and a new diagnosis of non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver (most likely a result of contracting hepatitis as a Marine), splenomegaly and failing kidneys-the medical bills have already begun to pile up.

Utilizing the Veterans Affairs doctors and networks is a maze to make sense of. Most doctors are trying to do their best but are inundated with countless other veterans in need of help.
Bill has been admitted into three different hospitals three separate times for his congestive heart failure in just the last month. Between cardiologists and specialists, medical procedures, multiple-day hospital stays…the hospital bills are mounting.

The most recent trip to the emergency room has resulted in a transfer to another hospital: WellSpan York Hospital.
The doctors will be consulted regarding the final stage of congestive heart failure that Bill is experiencing now.
Palliative care doctors and nurses have been consulted. No one is prepared to be having these conversations.

Ever since Bill began sharing his memories and life experiences with me…I’ve tried so hard to tuck them all away and remember as many details as possible.
I know now that we will not have enough time together for me to learn about all of his Marine experiences; or EMT experiences; or about his Dalmatians from years ago.

Knowing and loving Bill has changed my life. The people and lives he has touched in his 66 years continues to leave me in awe. I want so badly to know every detail and every story. And I’ve selfishly given him notebooks and a Marine journal to somehow capture it all. If we could just close our eyes and implant it all into my head…that would be awesome.

We ask for any donations possible to cover the medical costs that have been accumulating for the last few months. To ensure that Bill, a proud United States Marine Corp veteran and his wife, my mom, Jane, have no need to worry about medical bills during this sensitive time.
A Marine, and every veteran, deserves dignity when life gets tough.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
