Help Billie Jean Have Lifesaving Surgery
Donation protected
Billie Jean is the best chihuahua you will ever meet. She is a fighter from the get go, the only pup to survive in her litter when we rescued her. We were lucky enough to have her in our life for a year before she went to live with her new Mom, Chloe. We were devastated to hear that Billie Jean has suddenly become paralysed and needs life saving surgery this week. The cost is massive (5K), and we want to do everything we can to make sure she gets this surgery and goes on to live a very happy life. She brings so much joy to everyone she meets. Please help our little girl.
Chloe has shared with me the below:
"I have the wonderful Billie Jean 1 year this month and she is the most playful, kind, friendly, loving, angel we have been so blessed to have.
Billie Jean has never had any health issues. On Thursday evening, I noticed she was yelping a little and just off in general... She would not sit down on her bed. We stayed up all night looking after each other and I brought her to her vet O'Scanills in Swords. They said she had a back issue and gave her an injection and some anti inflammatory medicine. Later that evening BJ had really gone down hill. She was unable to use her back legs at all, could not get up for food, water, or the bathroom. Luckily her Vet said he would be calling today (Sunday Feb 3rd) to check on her. We stayed up again all night waiting to go to the vet. Conor my vet in Swords immediately got onto vet specialists in Summer Hill Co Meath. The jist of the conversation was she needs surgery immediately. She is paralysed in her back legs. I was instructed to get to Summer Hill immediately. We arrived and BJ was in brilliant hands. The outcome of the consultation was that a disc had slipped in the middle of her back which is leaning on something that stops her legs, bowls and bladder from functioning. The awful news is BJ will have to be put asleep next week if this surgery is not done. A perfectly healthy otherwise dog who LOVES life and running on the beach. The life changing surgery is approx. €5,000 plus. To leave her there today I had to pay a deposit of €2,500 for her to stay and start treatment. I need another €2,500 to get her out of hospital once everything is completed in the next 3-4 days (and I will be charged more everyday after her release date that I cannot pay to get her home). I took the chance and checked her in with family members help in hopes that we can possibly fundraise a little bit. If anyone had anything extra to spare to help Billie Jean get the surgery she needs to live past her two very short years, I would be eternally grateful.
We are really optimistic as the surgery has a 90% success rate. Thank you."
