Hi, my name is Alex, and I’m a tattoo artist with over 15 years of experience—and now, the proud owner of Black Needle Tattoo, a new artist-driven tattoo studio in the heart of Oakland, CA.
Black Needle Tattoo is more than just a shop—it’s a space built on values of community, creativity, diversity, and sustainability. After years of operating in a private studio in San Francisco, I took the leap to open a storefront in Oakland to create a space where tattooers from different backgrounds can thrive and where clients feel welcomed, seen, and cared for.
We’ve come a long way already—transforming the space ourselves with the help of friends, family, and returning clients—but like most grassroots projects, getting it off the ground takes more than passion.
We’re launching this fundraiser to help raise funds for:
- Hiring two more artists to round out our team and meet growing client demand
- Ongoing marketing efforts to build visibility and support local artists
- Shop upgrades and sustainability efforts (eco-friendly disposables, reusable equipment, etc.)
- Community events and open houses to connect with Oakland’s vibrant creative scene
