Help Blanche, the Rescued Freeway Cat
Donation protected
Hi my name is Travis and I’m raising funds for the senior cat that I rescued from the freeway on December 5. For the past 4 days I had seen what looked like a cat on this particular part of the freeway, stuck on a center divider inbetween a constant stream of ongoing traffic. At first glance I wasn’t sure if it was alive or dead or a figment of my imagination (which happens more often than not). After 2 days of passing by and realizing that this furry ball was indeed a cat I started to feel concern that it may have been injured and was sadly on death’s door. By Wednesday I kept look out to see if the cat had moved from the spot, figuring if it hadn’t then nature took it’s toll and nothing could be done for it. To my surprise the cat was STILL stuck on the center divider, but in a different position! On Thursday I made the decision that if I see this cat again I will stop and see what’s wrong and do what I can to help. Not being able to remember exactly what center divider I had seen it on I had initially lost hope, assuming that it had either made its way across the dangerous traffic or someone else had stopped to help. To my utter shock the cat was still stranded on this concrete island without a chance of escaping to safety. I immediately pulled off and climbed the divider with a blanket in hand to attempt the rescue, worried that this girl might get skittish and run into the traffic I moved slowly. Luckily I wrapped her up and took off to the vet. The whole ride she sat in my lap looking at me with gratitude, purring and making tiny meows. The vet thinks she is 12 years old and has seen her share of scrapes and could possibly have been hit by a car, but doesn’t seem to have any broken bones. She’s a tough girl! She does have some dental damage that requires surgery, so along with getting a full check up, x-rays, and all the other stuff that goes along with rescuing a stranded cat, the bill is somewhat hefty. I’ve never done a gofundme, but figured if anyone deserves a second chance it’s this sweet old lady who I’ve named Blanche. Like the Golden Girls! My hope is to just get her vet bills covered so she can go to her new home and live the rest of her life in peace. She deserves it.
