Hi I'm Busta, I'm 9 months old and was born blind but my humans don't mind, they taught me some cool things to keep me safe so I can go wild on walks like a doggo that has eyes that work, plus I've got extra large ears so I follow noises really easily and always hear when food is dropped on the floor! I've made so many doggy friends because my Mum is a dog walker and I love going to work with her BUT I was born unlucky and have bad knees. This means I can't walk anymore and I need an operation so I can go back to running around, Mum said the alternative is too sad to think about.
My humans have insurance but after appointments for my eyes, there isn't any money left for my operations. Luckily they had something called savings and I can have my first operation, but there's no money left for my second operation.
I'm a very happy, healthy (and cute) puppy who has so much love to give and many years ahead of me if I get the surgery I need. Mum has explained the technical stuff below because I can't wrap my little puppy brain around it.
It's very expensive but Mum says I'm worth it, my human brother Liam thinks so too and emptied his money box to help pay for my surgery. He didn't have enough so I'm asking, begging, pleading for some help to pay for my much needed surgery. Anything you can afford would help because it all adds up so please please help if you can. Mum said if people share my story and spread the news we might be lucky enough to find all the money I need so I've got my paws crossed.
Mum also said she's increased my insurance so we never have this situation again, I think she feels relieved about that.
If you've read this far, thank you! I'm Gemma, Busta's Mum and I'm ever so grateful to you for you taking an interest in Busta's story. At the beginning of June this year Busta went lame in his back end one afternoon. After a couple of days resting we took him to our vets and they referred us straight to the orthopaedic team at Davies Veterinary Specialists. We saw them quite quickly and after x-rays and lots of poking and prodding, it was discovered that Busta has a ruptured cruciate ligament in one knee and a lot of degenerative damage to the other back knee. He needs to have TPLO surgery on both knees and like Busta said, we have managed to find funding for the first operation, combining what we have left on his insurance for the year as well as a hefty donation from a family member - we are forever in his debt. So we're relying on the kindness of friends, family and strangers to make sure Busta has both surgeries and can return to being the happy pup we know and love.
I'll be sharing pupdates of Busta's story on his Facebook page, as well as Instagram and Tiktok so you can see how he's recovering and what he was like before - prepare to be entertained with the videos of him with his friends!
We're putting in a lot of work to make sure he recovers as well as possible, hydrotherapy for rehabilitation and so many adaptations around the house but he is worth every single sacrifice.
