My name is Daned, and in September 2025, I will be participating in a Tough Mudder to raise money and awareness for retinitis pigmentosa and other rare vision-affecting conditions. My dad is an inspiration to me. Seeing him struggle with his eyesight is difficult, but it never stops him from doing the things he loves. I'm nervous about running the Tough Mudder; I know it will be challenging. However, when I find it difficult, I'll think of my dad and other fathers and sons across the UK facing similar hardships.

There is currently no cure or treatment available. Retina UK provides information and support for all those affected by inherited retinal dystrophy. The charity is also one of the leading funders of research into this area in the country, funding research into the causes and potential treatments.
