FILM SUMMARY:

When a group of local island misfits become fed up with tourists invading their tropical home, they concoct a half-baked idea to blow up the island’s only bridge but fail to consider the consequences of marooning themselves with the very tourists they resent as tempers rise and resources dwindle.

ABOUT ME:

Hi! I'm Amber, a Key West screenwriter and filmmaker in the process of creating an animated comedy short film (and hopefully a TV series pilot) called Tourist Town. The show uses comedy to expose the problem of over-tourism and takes place on "Rooster Island" a fictitious place inspired by the Florida Keys. I'm seeking additional funding to collaborate on animating the film.

PROJECT DETAILS:

The script is a semi-finalist in the Emerging Screenwriters Animation Contest and has received the Anne McKee Artist Fund grant 2024. However, animation is VERY expensive (a 30-minute TV pilot can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars) and significantly more funding is needed to make this a reality.
