Help Blu Recover from Spontaneous Pneumothorax

Hi everyone,

My sweet 3 year old dog Blu is currently fighting for her life at urgent care after being diagnosed with Spontaneous Pneumothorax—a collapsed lung caused by air trapped around her lungs. The doctors said this is really rare; over the course of 20 years, this vet has only seen 5 cases. She’s the most lovable, gentle soul, and it breaks my heart to see her in pain.

It all started a couple of days ago when I noticed Blu struggling to breathe, particularly out of her right nostril. Her breathing was heavier than normal, and I knew something wasn’t right. I took her to the vet for X-rays, and the results were devastating—her lungs were collapsing due to the trapped air.

She was rushed to the animal medical center, where they inserted a chest tube to remove the air. Over the course of the night, they drained over 3 liters of air from around her lungs. While she’s stable for now, Blu still has a long road to recovery, including additional treatments and monitoring to ensure her lungs can heal properly.

Blu is such a sweet and loving companion, bringing joy to everyone she meets. I’m doing everything I can to get her the care she needs, but the costs are overwhelming. Between the emergency vet visits, X-rays, overnight care, and ongoing treatment, her medical expenses are adding up quickly.
