Help Blue Ridge Roller Derby Recover From Helene

Many kind folks have reached out to see how they can help support Blue Ridge Roller Derby (BRRD) in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, so we're starting this GoFundMe as a way to provide relief to the many people on our team who have suffered — and continue to suffer — losses and difficulties in its wake.

All donations will go into a fund for BRRD members in need. It's been a harrowing few days while we've waited to hear from our teammates who live all over Buncombe County and WNC, as most of us have been cut off from reliable forms of communication.

Most of our team chat has been dedicated to safety checks and sharing resources, but reports and stories are trickling in of major losses: damage to homes, vehicles, loss of work, no water or power for days and days. And yet, so many of the same folks are already out in their neighborhoods, shoveling mud, door knocking, providing food – because that's who we are as a team.

It's hard to believe that just a couple weeks ago, we were at a team retreat, playing games and getting excited for our Home Team season. For now, that's indefinitely on pause as we work to rebuild our lives and our communities.
