For those that were fortunate enough to have Bob in their lives, it brings us all great heartbreak, shock and sorrow. Bob was a person who brought people together, a person to lift you up when you were down, a person who’s moral compass was always pointed in the right direction. His smile and chuckle could turn a room of dreariness into genuine laughter in any tense situation. He was someone you always wanted to be around and a person who made anyone’s day that much brighter.
Bob was always there for anyone in need and would drop anything he was doing to ensure that. He was a great family man, a husband to his wonderful wife Karen, adoring father of Adam, Stephanie and three stepchildren Kate, Rachel and Eric.
While Bob was widely known and extremely social with his professional and friend network, he was very private about talking about himself. Until his final days, unbeknownst to most, Bob struggled with mental health issues. For those that knew him well, this will be surprising because he always had such high energy and warm engagement whenever you spent time with him. Whether it be at lunch, a sporting event, a round of golf or just a brief walk around downtown Portland, his smile and warmth was a constant.
With all the love and support he gave to others, sadly it was difficult for him to discuss his struggles with others. Unfortunately the struggle was ultimately the battle he lost. Due to a diagnosis and prior conditions, at the time of his loss of life, personal life insurance was unfortunately not something he had. With him being the majority provider for his household, physically and financially assisting with his sisters care, supporting a child in college and one fast approaching it, being the lifeline for Karen’s wonderful Learning Center (Tender Years), this unfortunately puts the family in a very tough financial situation.
That’s where the rest of us come in. For those same people whose lives Bob touched, and for those of you who’d like to show support to a wonderful man and a wonderful family, let us all rally and support the Bruder family! While what we donate and give here today will not bring Bob back, let us honor him and show support to his family the way he always would for one of us. We please ask you to consider making a donation to this cause. I know for certain, had this been any of us instead of him, he’d be the first one in line with a hug and a donation.
