Help Bob Fennessy Shut Out Cancer
Living in our small community, there is a good chance that my big brother, Bob, has touched your life in one way or another. Maybe he has painted your home or maybe he has entertained you as the Blue Man at OFA's football field or Golden Dome. Perhaps you were a team member of his on the football field or ice rink back in the day.
At the end of June, Bob was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the esophageal. This type of cancer is typically caused by long-term acid reflux. The plan is to start chemotherapy and radiation as soon as possible and, eventually, undergo an esophagectomy to remove the tumor.
He is ready to fight this and I promised him that he would not fight alone. He has already gathered some of the best healthcare supporters along the way: Anne Young, NP, Ken Hilborne, NP, Dr. Oakley, and all of the staff in the Endoscopy Unit at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. And, the newest member, Dr. Wallen, at SUNY Upstate. (There are simply not enough words to thank his healthcare team for the compassionate care he has received.)
Being a self-employed house painter, his ability to work will be uncertain at times during the 6 weeks of chemo and radiation. And, then, not at all while he recovers from the major surgery.
Let's help Bob win this with a shut out! Together, we can help to ensure that high healthcare costs don't affect his outcome and that he doesn’t have to stress over living expenses when he isn't working.
Any amount collected will go toward living expenses, travel expenses to and from Syracuse, and medical expenses, as needed.
Please note: No goods or services will be provided in exchange for this financial support. And, this support is not tax deductible.
With much love,
Amy
