Help Bob recover and rebuild his life
Donation protected
This Go Fund Me page advocates for Bob Christian as he recovers from 14 months in hospitals, intensive care units, and rehab centers due to COVID-19. For those of you unfamiliar with Bob’s decades of community service, Bob has been the dynamic publisher and editor for the Philadelphia Free Press and University City Review for over 30 years.
Tragically, he has undergone lengthy and painful hospital procedures with complications resulting in a foot amputation in January. His wife, Claudia, continues to lobby fiercely for his care and sustain his fighting spirit. She and her three daughters want to bring Bob home and care for him.
While the Philadelphia community has supplied prayer, meals, visits and transportation, costs have mounted for Bob and Claudia as they plan for his homecoming. A few examples follow:
- a medical bed costs $2,000;
- home renovations including an accessible bathroom and chair lift could run over $15,000;
- home nursing care could be $150 per day, totaling $18,000 for a six-month period;
- a used wheelchair accessible van costs over $20,000.
These costs, sadly, fall to the family, making homecare particularly costly.
Would you consider donating to this family that has supported Philadelphia’s cultural life through news, advertising, interviewing and event planning? Bob’s investigative and editorial talents have been a gift to us all, and we can now support Claudia and him through our giving.
